This evening we dine at the Matavai Resort and enjoy sunset drinks and evening sea views from the expansive deck.
Sunday 03 November
Rest Day in Niue. Most locals will attend church and you are welcome to visit one close by at Avatele. The singing is uplifting and services very spiritual. Ladies proudly wear their locally woven hats and it is part of the church attire for ladies 18yrs and over. We’ll have a ride to a new sea track for cave exploring today. The afternoon will finish at Washaway café one of the Islands most iconic eateries. Swimming and Sunday-relaxing is today’s focus.
Monday 04 November
This morning is the first of our week’s challenges is a BIKE ROGAINE where 2 distances are offered. The long course approx. 30kms and the short course approx. 10kms.
Enter as Individuals or as a Team. You will be sent away with a map and a list of clues, you have 1.5hrs to collect as many points as you can before returning to the start line before the time cut off.
Our afternoon will be visiting a number of sea tracks for swimming, snorkelling and a hike. If we have enough ocean swimmers (700m+) we will look to arrange a boat trip for a small group to go out.
Tuesday 05 November
This mornings challenge is a run or walk ORIENTEERING course. Again a long course of approx 8km and a short course of approx 4km. Against the clock to bag as many checkpoints as possible inside 1 hour. Enter as an Individual or as a Team.
The afternoon we will continue with sea track visits and cave exploring.
Wednesday 06 November
Back on the bikes this morning for BIKE SPRINTS. A 400m course with a few obstacles to slow you down. You get 3 attempts to better your time. If you opt to take a 2nd or 3rd attempt your previous time is deleted. Bring your A-game and full focus!
Afternoon Free.
This evening after dinner we plan a night ride (bring your lights) and an introduction to Niue’s Dark Sky attributes.
Thursday 07 November
Today is the main event. THE AMAZING ROCK-RACE where Teams are tasked to solve clues, navigate themselves in foreign areas, interact with locals, and perform physical and mental challenges that highlight aspects of Niue’s culture, history, and economy. Teams will need to out-smart and outrace their fellow competitors across a pre-determined route that will see them stopping at numerous checkpoints with the ultimate goal of getting to the finish line FIRST. Whilst the race is a timed event, it’s not as simple as
crossing the finish line first!
Prizegiving and the closing of event week are celebrated this evening with food & beverages provided.
Friday 08 November
Pack bikes and gear again. Check in for this afternoons flight, grab your boarding pass and we’ll head back into town for a café fix and early lunch. Fill the van with gas and head back to the airport by Midday.
